Guided Walk – Stubbers at Thames Chase Forest Centre
May 26th 2017 | Thames Chase Forest Centre |
Circular walk to Stubbers from the Thames Chase Visitor Centre via Cranham Marsh is around 5 miles and will take around 2.5 – 3 hours. 10am Friday 26th May 2017
Stubbers is an historic site in North Ockendon that was the home of William Coys, the botanist, and the Russell family. Once a stately home with extensive park land and gardens, the site is now used as an outdoor pursuits centre. Once considered the for – runner to Kew Gardens, there are a few remnants of the formal gardens in a walled garden and crinkle-crankle wall.
There is a large car park at Stubbers, toilets and the Cafe for refreshments. It can be muddy in places and waterproof shoes/boots are strongly recommended. Walkers unable to manage the full walk are welcome to join the walk at the Stubbers reception area.
Come and join us for some fresh air and light exercise and enjoy what the Community Forest has to offer at this time of year.
