Shakespeare scholar’s memorial window at Ilford Hospital Chapel

Included in the crowd-sourced exhibition ‘Shakespeare in Redbridge’ in Valentines Mansion is a copy of the book ‘Shakespeare’s Bones’ by Dr Clement Ingleby (1823-86), which discusses the ethics of opening Shakespeare’s tomb. The author lived at Valentines Mansion, and the West Aisle Window in Ilford Hospital Chapel by Edward Burne-Jones is a memorial to Dr Ingleby.
You can view the window on the Chapel’s next Open Days – Saturday 10th September 10am to 2.30pm, and the Open House Weekend Saturday 17th September 10am to 4pm and Sunday 18th September 1pm to 4.30pm.
