Davy Down is publicly accessible all year round on foot. The area was originally farmland and dates back to at least 1730. The Stifford Pumping Station, which dominates its setting, was built in 1926-27 to extract water from the chalk below. The Stifford Pumping Station has free open days every Thursday from 1pm-5pm.

In May 1993 the Davy Down Trust began developing the land so it could be utilised by the public. Check the website to learn more about the Open Day Programme which runs from April-October.

Access by car
Davy Down is just off the B186 between South Ockendon and Lakeside. Postcode RM16 5UL. There is parking available.

Access by public transport
The 370 bus stops a short walk away from the entrance to Davy Down.

All the footpaths at Davy Down are suitable for wheelchairs and seating is situated every 200 metres. However, please consider seasonal variations when planning a visit.
