Open Days at Ilford Hospital Chapel
Aug 25th to Sep 17th | Ilford Hospital Chapel |
Ilford Hospital Chapel Beneath your feet as you walk down the Chapel aisle is a vault containing about 70 lead-lined coffins. The names of those interred are on display in the chapel; they worshipped in the Chapel in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Some have wall plaques in their memory, including a ‘respectable’ resident of Ilford. The vault is only accessible with engineering equipment. The pictures were taken about 1956-7. Do come and take a look at the Chapel on our regular Open Day, Saturday 9th September 10am to 2.30pm, or on the Open House weekend, Saturday 16th September 10am to 4pm and Sunday 17th September 1pm to 4.30pm.
